BIO
RACHELLE is a Toronto-born Afro-pop artist whose sound moves effortlessly across borders, cultures, and genres. Blending Afro-dance, pop, R&B, and global rhythms, her music is rooted in her Congolese and Filipina heritage while boldly pushing beyond traditional genre lines. With a clear mission to challenge how Black women are sonically defined in Canada, Rachelle creates music that celebrates identity, resilience, and cultural duality while speaking to a global audience.
Inspired by her late father, Show do Man, a two-time JUNO-nominated artist, Rachelle was raised in a world where storytelling through music was both sacred and powerful. Drawing from Toronto’s multicultural landscape and her own lived experiences, she crafts emotionally rich records that feel both intimate and expansive. Her sound weaves together Congolese rhythms, Afro-diasporic influences, Brazilian funk, and modern dance-pop, resulting in a sonic palette that feels fresh, intentional, and unmistakably hers.
Since her debut in 2022, Rachelle has quickly established herself as a compelling live performer, gracing stages across North America, Europe, and Africa. Her performance highlights include New Skool Rules in Rotterdam, Milk & Cookies Festival in Atlanta, Afro Fest and NXNE in Toronto, and the Kumnandi Ekhaya Festival in Botswana. She has also performed in London and across the Netherlands, continuing to expand her international presence. In 2023, she opened for Inayah on her North American tour, captivating audiences with her powerful vocals, commanding stage presence, and seamless blend of movement and music.
Rachelle’s single “Stranger,” a raw and courageous exploration of domestic violence and healing, earned her recognition as a CBC Searchlight finalist, further cementing her as one of Canada’s most promising emerging artists. Behind the scenes, she has collaborated with world-renowned Grammy-winning and JUNO Award-winning producers and songwriters, honing a sound that is both globally competitive and deeply personal.
After intentionally stepping back in 2025 to refine her artistry, Rachelle returned with renewed clarity, hitting stages consistently around the world, sharpening her sonic identity, and laying the foundation for her most defining chapter yet. She is currently preparing the release of her debut EP, SHOW, slated for 2026. The project is a bold, genre-fluid body of work that reflects her Afro-Asian roots, artistic growth, and fearless self-expression, with plans to release music back to back throughout the year.
Supported by organizations such as The Remix Project, Sound Stock Academy, and Foundation Media, Rachelle continues to build a world that extends beyond music, one rooted in movement, culture, and emotional connection. As a singer, dancer, and performer, she delivers immersive experiences that leave lasting impressions. With global momentum behind her and a powerful body of work on the horizon, Rachelle is emerging as a formidable force in the international music landscape.
